Hello, it’s been a while since I’ve posted on the creative endeavour of turning Good Friday into a theatre show. I was hoping to post during a week rehearsal we had at Lincoln Drill Hall but it proved to be such an all consuming week that I barely had the time. After finishing the week I very swiftly decided that I needed a holiday.
The weeks rehearsal was, of course, wonderful and very rewarding but it also proved to be one of the most draining things I’ve done in a long time. I felt like I’d given birth to a bus that then reversed over me!
The good news is that the show is there basically. Pete Shenton (the director) did an amazing job at grappling it into shape. We now have props and costume, including a hockey mask, some whisky, a water pistol, a Molly Woofkin fascinator (don’t ask) and a superman cape.
Anyway, here’s Sweet Heart from when David Parkin and The Good Friday Band played Rachael Smith’s charity event Lovely Time. We have gone on to polish it more but the sounds really good in this clip. Filmed by the multi talented Lucy Peel. Check her site http://www.lucypeel.com now!
Oh and if your in Lincoln this Friday (the actual Good Friday!!) please come and see a free scratch performance at 8 in The Drill Hall. A rough and ready chance to see how we are doing!
